Hello! I am Melodi.

I’m a Christian Trauma Recovery Specialist Coach.

&

I help women who have been hurt through adverse childhood experiences to heal and live free from the past.

With a background in clinical professional counseling, and a master’s in crisis and trauma response counseling I bring all of my skills and personal experience to the table to help you find the healing that you need. I am currently a psychology PhD student and will begin my dissertation early in 2025. I have helped many women find hope and heal from the wounds of childhood and I would be honored to help you. Don’t wait, call now and let’s get started. (302)270-8503.

Adverse childhood experiences contribute to interpersonal problems, anxiety, depression, an inability to create a secure relationship, attachment, brain fog, a feeling of not being in your body, insomnia, wanting too much sleep, issues with academic development, low emotional intelligence, and much more.

However, there is no need to continue struggling with these things.

Healing from adverse childhood experiences is possible, and I'm here to guide you on that journey. Many women don't realize that their current challenges—like anxiety, relationship struggles, or difficulty setting boundaries—are often connected to unresolved pain from the past.

Healing is unique for everyone. The pain you experienced didn't happen overnight, so healing will likely unfold in seasons too. I have personally found that my own growth has come in stages, deepening over time.

I want you to know healing is absolutely possible. Together, we'll explore strategies and tools that empower you to move toward peace, well-being, and lasting joy. Here's what you can expect during our sessions:

  • Coping Strategies: You'll learn techniques to process grief and emotional pain, giving you tools to face difficult moments with strength.

  • Protective Boundaries: You'll discover how to set boundaries that express care for others while safeguarding your well-being.

  • Healthy Relationships: We'll focus on building skills for strong, meaningful connections in your life.

  • Discernment Tools: You'll develop a framework to assess whether a person or organization is emotionally safe and supportive.

With a master's degree in crisis and trauma counseling and a background in clinical mental health, I bring both professional expertise and personal experience to support your healing. Through compassionate coaching, I'll walk alongside you every step of the way, helping you reclaim your peace and confidence.

You don't have to stay stuck in pain. Reach out today, and let's start your healing journey together.

When we have been hurt through adverse childhood experiences, it affects so many aspects of our lives.

After all, we grew up in an environment, which was skewed. What we thought was right was often wrong. I grew up with many adverse childhood experiences. This makes it very hard to navigate as an adult.

Did you know that a lotus must begin in the mud to become a beautiful flower? Sometimes, I look at my childhood like this.

While I certainly would never have chosen to have lived through physical, emotional, spiritual, or sexual abuse as a girl, I also know that I would not be who I am today had those experiences not been part of my past.

I wouldn’t know how to see the hurt that others feel, be a comfort to others’ needs, or know how to open the door of freedom. It is because I lived through these things that I can effectively coach you through the journey of healing.

Yes, I will use the skills that I learned as I trained to be a counselor, but we won’t swim around in the difficulty for any longer than is necessary.

A coach gets on the field with you and finds ways to help you achieve your goals. As a counselor, it is unethical to move into spaces of this nature.

Perhaps, there are areas that you have already settled, but you still struggle in specific areas and feel stuck, unable to move forward. Through coaching, we can help you move forward and achieve your goals.

Why Choose a Mental Health Coach vs. a Professional Counselor

If you've experienced childhood neglect or abuse, you may feel the weight of past pain affecting your daily life, relationships, and even your ability to care for those you love. If you’re a mom then it may be difficult for you to attach securely to your children, or struggle to feel safe and secure in your marriage.

As a Christian woman dedicated to your family and faith, you might be wondering whether a mental health coach or a professional counselor is the right choice for your healing journey.

A Mental Health Coach Offers:

  • Practical, Forward-Focused Guidance: A coach focuses on helping you build practical skills to manage triggers, strengthen emotional resilience, and thrive in your present life, without dwelling extensively on past trauma.

  • Faith-Integrated Support: As a coach who understands Christian values, I help you explore healing through a compassionate, biblically-informed perspective, empowering you to restore your sense of self and faith. However, working with me means that you have a judgment-free space to heal and explore the questions that you have.

  • Relational Accountability: Coaching offers a personal, relational approach where I walk alongside you, providing encouragement and support as you implement positive changes. When you walk with someone who has already taken the journey, you know that you will get to the place where you want to go.

  • A Strength-Based Approach: Rather than focusing on diagnosis or pathology, coaching emphasizes your strengths and ability to grow, build confidence, and reclaim your life. We will still discuss difficulty and work through those stressors, but we won’t stay there any longer than we have to.

When Counseling May Be a Better Fit:

While coaching is powerful for personal growth and overcoming emotional barriers, professional counseling may be better suited if you:

  • Need to process deep trauma with a licensed clinician. Processing deep trauma means that it is difficult to stay in your body when you return to the difficult parts of childhood. While a coach can help a client process, the severity is greater when one sees a counselor.

  • Require a formal diagnosis or clinical treatment plan. Professional counselors make a diagnosis while a coach will determine the problem and what goals are important to you.

  • Experience severe mental health challenges that impact daily functioning. Counselors help individuals who are debilitated by the problems they are facing.

Empowerment Through Coaching:

If you’re ready to break free from the patterns of your past and step into emotional freedom, coaching can offer you the tools and support to move forward with courage and clarity. As your coach, I’m here to help you rise stronger, deepen your faith, and embrace the fulfilling life God designed for you.

Calling a counselor can be difficult, but calling a coach is like calling a friend.

What You Can Expect

  1. In our first call, we will determine if I am a good fit for you and if I can help with the problems that you are having.

  2. If all goes well, then we will set up a 90-minute appointment, so that I can get a broad understanding of your goals, difficulties, and past.

  3. In the next session after the work of an intake is finished, I will develop a plan for how we will meet your goals. This plan will be individually designed for you.

  4. Whatever we plan in the next sessions we will create a warm empathetic relationship, so that you feel safe to move into more difficult areas with me.

  5. Sometimes, sessions will be about what is happening in your life, presently, and sometimes we will focus on childhood, but whatever we do we will always be moving forward to meet the goals that we have set.

  6. Eventually, we will get to a session when we believe that things are better. At this point, we will go back to your original goals and determine where we are in regard to each goal. This will give us information about what still needs work and what is finished.

  7. When you are happy with your goals being met, we will begin stretching out the time between sessions, to ensure your stability in the progress that we have made, and then we will assess if there are other goals that you want to work on, or if we are finished.
