Each group has 3 to 6 people, who have are experiencing similar difficulties. Meeting once a week you’ll have opportunities to share as you choose, be validated and encouraged. The group will be a safe place where life issues can be explored, life long friends will be made, and individuals can begin to do life together.
Emotional wounds will begin to heal within these healthy growing relationships. When we have been wounded in a relationship, then it requires relationships to heal the wound. This changes the trajectory of an individual which then changes the individual’s ability to securely attach to others. When we grow up in families that are not equipped to show us how to have strong relationships, then forming safe relationships becomes impossible. We all long for healthy relationships, yet many of us don’t know how to create them. Working within a group of this nature will give you the tools necessary to create healthy secure relationships.

Every session will last for 90 minutes. During this time there will be a particular area of focus which the coach will teach about, for 15 to 30 minutes, and then the group will have the rest of the session to share with each other and encourage the others within the group.
Each group will have a specific focus.
Growing up in a home with a parent who had a mental health issue
Growing up in a family with abuse present.
Strengthening individuals who are in abusive relationships.
Strengthening those who have lost a loved one.

Where did Thrive groups begin?
It was a dreary rainy afternoon when I walked into the dimly lit church basement. As a counseling student, I was fulfilling assignment requirements for a class on addictions counseling, which was to attend two AA meetings.
Chairs lined the walls and were full of people and in the center of the room a long white table was surrounded by more people. Some people were in business style dress while others looked as if they had just gotten out of bed, had come from gardening or were heading to the mall next. There were older people, young people and individuals in mid life. The group was vast and different.
But what I remember most was the support that was in that room. I had been in church settings for more than 40 years, but I had never experienced the supportive atmosphere that was present that day.
This was a safe place for everyone not just those struggling with their addiction. Achievements were celebrated, set backs viewed with compassion and daily life was acknowledged as encouragement was given to everyone.
I knew groups like this needed to be available to everyone. I could see those struggling with anxiety, Complex PTSD, depression and other issues who needed to have the positive support which is so important for healing.
Did you know that many times those within destructive relationships have not experienced a secure relationship in their family of origin? Social support is vital for every human.
