When those who call themselves Christians hurt us, it can be difficult to heal such soul-crushing wounds.
As humans we have a need to open ourselves to others, which leaves us vulnerable to being hurt by others. After we have experienced hurt it is scary to open up to another human, which keeps us from sharing the hurt so that others can help carry our pain. This is why coaching is a great option.
As a coach my first priority is taking care of you. You will always have autonomy or the right to choose. Confidentiality is guaranteed. Having a safe place to talk and learn to walk through the hurt from what has been experienced is the first step in healing from such deep wounds.
When church leadership is involved, whether the leadership is the abuser or the church leadership has been abused, knowing who to trust can be impossible.
Reaching out to a trauma-informed coach gives you the confidentiality that you need to assist you in navigating the circumstances.
Spiritual abuse can be defined as an individual having spiritual or religious power and removing another’s ability to choose freely. Spiritual abuse often overlooks the victim’s feelings, thoughts, needs, and/or beliefs. This results is harm to the victim. When we realize the harm done, the pain can be overwhelming.

Hello, I am Melodi Kitzmiller,
and I would like to teach you through coaching how you can heal.
With a background in clinical trauma counseling and the experiences of my own path to healing, I can guide you to the place of healing.
I have been equipped with
-Master of Arts in Crisis and Trauma Response Counseling
~ Decades of counseling experience, both lay and professional
~ A certificate of completion in Narrative Focused Trauma Therapy through The Allender Center and
~ A practical working knowledge of Attachment Theory (Spiritual abuse harms our attachment to God)
I have also experienced various perspectives in my 50-plus years of attending church.
-I was a pastor’s kid and had many relatives who were pastors.
-I have also experienced spiritual abuse after the sudden death of my husband. This resulted in my need to leave my church of 12 years just six months later. Spiritual abuse preys upon the weak and hurting. There are no exceptions.
-I have healed from the destructive teachings of Bill Gothard, the Vision Forum debacles, the patriarch movement, and many church splits.
I can assure you that you can heal from spiritual abuse and find joy and fulfillment in your spiritual walk. You may choose to redefine many things spiritually, but rest assured those choices will be yours. My job is not to tell you what to believe but rather to help you heal.
You will learn coping strategies and techniques to process the grief of being hurt and the anxiety that accompanies abuse.
You will learn to interact with others using protective boundaries that show care for others while keeping you safe.
You will acquire the tools that you need to reconstruct what has been damaged or destroyed by the abuser.
You will develop a framework that helps you understand whether a person or organization is safe.
